ACTIVITIES

LEARNING CIRCLE:
Teacher-led activities including calendar, weather, songs, stories, poems, discussions of
the current theme and the day's activities. Children are encouraged to participate by
sharing their thoughts and ideas. As part of the childrens literacy experience we visit
the school library weekly.

FREE PLAY:
At this time children decide for themselves what they wish to do. Possibilities include
painting, drawing, play-dough, exploring the science table, using puzzles or other
manipulative toys, dramatic play, looking at books, puppet theatre, computers or
jumping on the jump-a-roo. Each day new art and craft materials are set out for the
children's use and exploration.

CLEAN-UP:
This is the time when the children learn to "Finish what's begun" and "Put away when
done
".

SNACK / SHOW & TELL:
A relaxing time for children to socialize. Show and tell allows your child to build
confidence and self-esteem through sharing and talking about a special item or treasure
brought from home.

LARGE MOTOR:
Inside or outside depending on the weather. Activities include climbing apparatus,
swings, slides, sand box, water play and use of the wood working area. Children are
guided through teacher led physical activies during our weekly gym days.

MUSIC & MOVEMENT:
Teacher-led activities including songs with full body actions, dance and creative
movement, use of musical instruments and prop boxes.

KINDERGARTEN DAY:
Our 4 year old children visit the kindergarten classes monthly to prepare for their
transition to kindergarten.
